‘You Have 48 Hours’: Ashutosh Ranka Demands Action Against ‘BJP Goons’ After CJP Team Attacked in Jaipur (Video)
Violence erupted near Rampura-Kanwarpura in Jaipur’s Bagru area when Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and his team were allegedly ambushed and pelted with stones during a government school inspection. The team was investigating a facility operating from a makeshift cattle shed, sharpening a feud with Rajasthan’s BJP-led government.
A high-profile political conflict over Rajasthan’s educational infrastructure erupted into violence near Rampura-Kanwarpura village in the Bagru area of Jaipur district. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and his team were allegedly ambushed, pelted with stones, and physically assaulted while attempting to conduct a follow-up inspection of a local government school operating out of a makeshift cattle shed.
The incident has significantly escalated an ongoing standoff between the CJP leadership and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government, specifically targeting Education Minister Madan Dilawar.
Allegations of Mob Assault and Police Inaction
Speaking to reporters from the spot shortly after the clash, a visibly shaken Ashutosh Ranka condemned the violence, describing the situation as a calculated ambush. Ranka alleged that political opponents had assembled at the site before his delegation arrived to prevent them from documenting the campus conditions. "We had gone to inspect the school in Rampura-Kanwarpura village," Ranka stated. "For the past several years, the school has been operating in a buffalo shed. We had gone for an inspection last year as well, and the school was being run in a buffalo shed even then. Before we could reach the site for the inspection, their people, BJP goons, were already there. Our volunteers were assaulted first. All the media persons were present there. The police were informed, but even after we reached the spot, they did not stop."
Detailing the extent of the violence, Ranka claimed that multiple members of his team sustained physical injuries and that several items were vandalized. "Vehicle windows were smashed, phones were broken, a woman was assaulted, my shirt was torn, and one of our team members suffered a fractured hand. They even attacked us with stones," he added, terming the event "a black day in Rajasthan's democratic history."
Ultimatum Issued to Education Minister
In the wake of the altercation, Ranka issued a direct 48-hour deadline to Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar, threatening widespread political protests across the state if action is not taken promptly. "I want to tell Madan Dilawar just one thing: You have 48 hours. These goons must be arrested. You must withdraw the order, otherwise we will launch a statewide agitation across Rajasthan. And this time, it will not just be about the schools. This time, we will demand Madan Dilawar's resignation," Ranka warned. ‘BJP Goons Attacked Us’
Background: Ban on School Inspections and Rising Clashes
The confrontation stems from a growing political battle over public school safety and maintenance. The dispute intensified after the Rajasthan Education Department issued a circular restricting unauthorized external visitors from entering school premises, citing safety regulations and administrative protocols.
The CJP has openly defied the circular under its 'School Theek Karo' campaign, vowing to continue public audits of dilapidated or unsafe educational buildings. CJP leaders claim that the main primary school building at Rampura-Kanwarpura was declared unsafe due to deteriorating roofs and structural beams, forcing students into a nearby tin-roofed shed typically used for livestock and fodder storage.
While local police were deployed to maintain order following the altercation, the situation in the region remains tense as opposition groups demand legal accountability for those involved in the violence.
