Counting of Votes Begins For MLA Seats of Bilaigarh, Kasdol, Baloda Bazar, Bhatapara, Dharsiwa, Raipur Rural in Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018 begins. 

Raipur, December 11: The counting of votes to the five Assemblies including Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2018 that went to the polls in November and December is on Tuesday. Vote counting begins at 8 am and by late afternoon, we will have results in front of us. The exit polls have failed to give a clear result with few backing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Minister Raman Singh to retain his leadership role while others hint at BJP getting booted out by Congress after 15 years. Bilaigarh Assembly Seat

The Bilaigarh Assembly seat is part of the Chhattisgarh’s Balodabazar district and is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. Dr Sanam Kumar Jangre of BJP is the incumbent MLA of Bilaigarh having defeated Congress’ Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya in 2013 by 12000 votes. In the current campaign, he is up against Shyam Kumar Tandan of BSP and Chandradev Prasad Rai of Congress to preserve his seat.

Kasdol Assembly Seat

Kasdol constituency is part of Balodabazar district of Chhattisgarh. In the 2013 election, BJP’s Gaurishankar Agarwal defeated Rajkamal Singhaniya of Congress by a margin of 22000 votes to assume the MLA post. The contestant from this seat in 2018 are Shakuntala Sahu of Congress, Parmeshwar Yadu of JCC and Gaurishankar Agarwal of BJP.

Baloda Bazar Assembly Seat

Balodabazar Assembly seat is part of Chhattisgarh’s Balodabazar district and also known as the cement hub of the state due to the presence of a large number of cement factories. The incumbent MLA is Janak Ram Verma of Congress who defeated Laxmi Baghel of BJP in the last election by 9900 votes. Tesu Dhurandhar of BJP and Pramod Kumar Sharma of JCC will take on Janak Ram Verma in the 2018 election from this seat.

Bhatapara Assembly Seat

Bhatapara famous for the Simaria Ghat Mela and its mills are present in the Balodabazar district of Chhattisgarh. BJP’s Shivratan Sharma defeated Chaitaram Sahu of Congress back in 2013 by 12000 votes to assume the post of MLA. The contestant from Bhatapara this time around are Chait Ram Sahu of JCC, Shivratan Sharma of BJP and Sunil Maheshwari of Congress.

Dharsiwa Assembly Seat

The Dharsiwa constituency is part of Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. It is one of BJP’s bastions, the party having won here in the last three elections. In 2013, Devji Bhai Patel of BJP defeated Anita Yogendra Sharma of Congress by a margin of 2300 votes. In 2018, the candidates in the fray are Devji Bhai Patel of BJP, Anita Sharma of Congress and Panna Lal Sahu of JCC.

Raipur Rural Assembly Seat

The Raipur Rural constituency is part of Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. Congress leader Satya Narayan Sharma is the incumbent MLA after defeating BJP’s Nande Sahu in the 2013 Assembly election by a margin of 1800 votes. The contestants from this seat in 2018 election are Nand Kumar Sahu of BJP, Dr Omprakash Dewangan of JCC and Satya Narayan Sharma of Congress.
