New Delhi, January 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday issued a list of 40 star campaigners for the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi. The list features the party's top two leaders - Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah - apart from other senior leaders including JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari. Delhi Polls: Arvind Kejriwal Waits For Six Hours For His Turn At Election Office As Several Independents Turn Up to File Nomination.

Star power has also made it to the list, with the party calling upon a section of it celebrity-members to hit the campaign trail in the national capital. Bollywood personalities and lawmakers Hema Malini and Sunny Deol, along with Bhojpuri actor Dinesh 'Nirahua' Yadav are among the top celebrities to feature in the list.

All seven Lok Sabha MPs of the party from Delhi region, including state unit chief Manoj Tiwari, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir and singer Hans Raj Hans, have been listed as the star campaigners. The list also includes Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and firebrand Hindutva leader Yogi Adityanath, his Himachal Pradesh counterpart Jairam Thakur, former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

The Delhi assembly polls will be held in a single phase on February 8 across all 70 constituencies. The three-way electoral battle features the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the BJP and the Congress as prime contestants. As per the opinion polls released so far, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party is predicted to hold the edge with an estimated victory in 54-64 constituencies.
