Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday issued a stern warning to political opponents over the alleged financial irregularities in Ram Temple donations, advising them not to "test the patience of Ram bhakts (devotees)." Speaking at a public gathering in Deoria, Adityanath fiercely defended his government's handling of the situation, reiterating that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is actively probing the matter and will ensure complete transparency.

The Chief Minister slammed the opposition parties, specifically targeting the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing them of hypocrisy. He pointed out that those currently questioning the management of temple funds are the same entities that historically opposed the construction of the Ram Mandir and contested its legitimacy in court. SIT Investigation Underway

The financial controversy surfaced earlier this month after opposition leaders, including Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, alleged that substantial amounts of public donations made to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust were unaccounted for. Following a formal request from the temple trust to clear the air, the Uttar Pradesh government established a Special Investigation Team to investigate the allegations of misappropriation.

Addressing the crowd in Deoria, Adityanath stated that the state government has adopted a "zero-tolerance" policy regarding any attempts to compromise public faith. He noted that the preliminary SIT report has already led to the filing of the first First Information Report (FIR) and multiple detentions. Law enforcement authorities have reportedly recovered over ₹2 crore during the initial stages of the inquiry.

Accusations of Political Double Standards

During his speech, Chief Minister Adityanath heavily criticized the Congress party for what he termed a complete reversal of their historical stance. He recalled past legal battles where Congress leadership questioned the historical existence of Lord Ram in court affidavits. Who Are the 8 Accused Arrested in Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Case?.

"Some people leveling allegations had rejected Lord Ram and fought court cases against the Ram temple construction," Adityanath remarked, adding that the political faction that "plundered the country" is now pretending to care about the sanctity of temple funds. He also directed criticism toward the Samajwadi Party, referencing the 1990 police firing on kar sevaks (religious volunteers) under the previous state administration, stating that those who once penalized devotees chanting religious slogans are now attempting to lecture the current government on accountability.

Call for Restraint and Evidence

The Chief Minister appealed to the public and political commentators to practice patience and allow the judicial process to function, asserting that the full truth of the investigation will be made public within the next 15 days.  Adityanath urged anyone possessing legitimate documentary proof of financial irregularities to bypass public speculation and hand over the evidence directly to the active SIT. He concluded by stating that the government remains fully committed to protecting the integrity of the temple trust and the sentiments of millions of global devotees.
