The results of the Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha election will be declared today. The counting of votes has begun on the Parliamentary seat in Punjab at 8 am on Thursday, May 23. Voting for the Fatehgarh Sahib seat took place in the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Fatehgarh Sahib is a key Lok Sabha Constituency of Punjab. The constituency is reserved for the Scheduled Caste category, and the seat number of this constituency is 8. Like Anandpur Sahib constituency, this Lok Sabha constituency came into existence as a part of the implementation of delimitation of parliamentary and assembly constituencies in 2008. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP's) Harinder Singh Khalsa had defeated Congress' Sadhu Singh with a margin of over 54,000 votes. However, he was suspended from the party in 2015 for anti-party activities. Speculations are rife that he may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Meanwhile, in 2009 elections, Congress' Sukhdev Singh had won from this constituency defeating Akali Dal's Charanjit Singh Atwal.
