Counting of Votes Begins For MLA Seats of Kota, Lormi, Mungeli, Takhatpur, Bilha, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018 begins. 

Raipur, December 11: It is the counting day and LatestLY brings to you the live updates of Kota, Lormi, Mungeli, Takhatpur, Bilha, Bilaspur assembly seats election results. These are six important constituencies of 90 seats that were in for poll in two phases. The final counting of postal ballots commenced at 8 am IST on Tuesday. Half-an-hour after the postal ballots are counted, the process of counting votes from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will begin. The 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election results will determine whether Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leader, Chief Minister Raman Singh continues with his winning streak or can Indian National Congress (INC) make the big upset. The fate of 1,079 contestants, including the CM, his 11 ministers and state presidents of the BJP and the Congress will be decided on Tuesday. Kota Assembly Seat

The Kota Assembly seat is part of Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district and is considered a Congress bastion with the party securing victories in the last three elections. The current MLA from this seat is Dr Renu Jogi who defeated Kashi Ram Sahu of BJP in the 2013 polls by a margin of 5000 votes. Congress have opted for Vibhor Singh in the current election to fight Kashi Ram Sahu of BJP and sitting MLA Dr Renu Jogi who has switched allegiance to Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC).

Lormi Assembly Seat

Lormi is part of Mungeli district of Chhattisgarh and BJP’s Tokhan Ram Sahu is the incumbent MLA from this constituency. He defeated Dharmjeet Singh of Congress by 6200 votes in the last elections and is in contention once again in the current election having been given ticket by the BJP. He faces Shatrughan Lal Chandrakar of Congress and Dharmjeet Singh Thakur of the JCC for retaining his post.

Mungeli Assembly Seat

The Mungeli seat is part of the Mungeli district of Chhattisgarh and used to be a large tehsil prior to becoming a district. In the last state election, BJP’s Pannulal Mohle defeated Chandrabhan Barmate of Congress to capture this seat. In the 2018 elections, Mohle is up against Rakesh Patre of the Congress while former Congressman and last election’s runner-up Chandrabhan Barmate has moved to the JCC.

Takhatpur Assembly Seat

The Takhatpur constituency under the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh is known for its rice mills and travel agencies. The incumbent MLA is Raju Singh of the BJP who came on top in the last election defeating Ashish Singh Thakur by a small margin of 600 votes. There are new faces in the running for this seat in 2018 with BJP’s Harshita Pandey, Congress’ Dr Rashmi Singh and Santosh Kaushik of the JCC.

Bilha Assembly Seat

Bilha constituency is in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district and is the biggest block in the country. Congress won the election in 2013 from here with its leader Siyaram Kaushik defeating Dharam Lal Kaushik of the BJP. Like many MLA’s of Congress, Siyaram Kaushik too joined the newly formed JCC just before the elections and is up against Dharam Lal Kaushik and Rajendra Shukla of BJP and the Congress respectively.

Bilaspur Assembly Seat

The Bilaspur Assembly seat is part of the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh and is the second the second most populous district in the state. Amar Agrawal of BJP had defeated Vani Rao of Congress back in 2013 by a margin of 15000 votes to take over as the MLA of Bilaspur. He has been given ticket by the BJP in the current election and is up against Shailesh Pandey of Congress and Brijesh Sahu of JCC.
