The Palwal Vidhan Sabha Constituency falls in the Palwal district and Faridabad Parliamentary constituency of Haryana. Deepak Mangla of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the seat in Haryana Assembly Elections 2019. The results were declared on October 24. Mangla defeated Karan Singh of the Congress by 28296 votes. Palwal is known as the cotton trading centre of Haryana as well as North India. The origin of Palwal dates back to Mahabharata and the place is known to have been named after Palwasura, who ruled the city during the reign of the Pandavas. Palwal has a total number of 230061 registered voters and 244 polling stations. Voting in Palwal for Haryana Assembly Elections 2019 took place on October 21.
Karan Singh Dalal of the Congress had won the Haryana Assembly Elections 2014 from Palwal against Deepak Mangla of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Dalal had been a five-time MLA from Palwal. Dalal was once again fighting from Palwal for 2019 polls on a Congress ticket. He was pitted against Mangla of the BJP, Satpal of the INLD and Kudeep Kaushik of the AAP among others. These elections come months after the BJP's massive victory in Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The BJP had witnessed a clean sweep in Haryana in Parliamentary polls.
Meanwhile, Assembly polls also took place simultaneously in Maharashtra. Voting for both Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly elections took place on October 21. The results for polls in both states were announced on October 24.
