Bhopal, December 11: The counting for 230 seats of the Madhya Pradesh assembly is currently underway. The state went to poll on November 28 and a voter turnout of around 75 per cent was recorded. As many as 2,899 candidates, including 1,094 independents, are in the fray for the 230 seats. In Parasia (SC), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Tarachan Bawariya against Congress candidate Sohan Lai Valmiki. In 2013, Congress candidate Sohanlal Valmik had won with 72235 votes.
In Pandhurna (ST), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Tikaram Korachi against Congress candidate Nilesh Uike. In 2013, Jatan Uikey of the Congress party had won the seat with 61741 votes.
In Multai, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Raja Panwar against Congress candidate Sukhdev Panse. In 2013 polls, BJP's Chandrashekhar Deshmukh had won the seat with 84354 votes.
In Amla (SC), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has pitted Yogesh Pandagare against Congress candidate Manoj Malve. In 2013, BJP's Chaitram Manekar had won the Amla seat with 77939 votes.
In Betul, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Hament Khandelwal against Congress candidate Nilay Kumar Daga. In 2013 polls, BJP's Hemant Vijay Khandelwal had won the Betul seat with 82949 votes.
In Ghoradongri (ST), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Geetabai Uikey against Congress candidate Bramha Bhalavi. In 2013, BJP's Sajjan Singh Ueikey had won the Ghoradongri seat with 77793 votes.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress is contesting in 229 seats leaving one seat, Jatara in Tikamgarh district, for Sharad Yadav-led LJD. Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) are also in the fray. The BSP fielded 227 candidates and the SP contested 51 seats.
