New Delhi, April 18: The man who hurled a pair of shoes at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament GVL Narsimha Rao, Shakti Bhargava, owns a hospital in Kanpur and had faced income tax raids in the year 2018, said reports. Shoes Hurled at BJP MP GVL Narsimha Rao During Press Conference in New Delhi; Incident Caught on Camera.

Various media reports said after the incident that Bhargava has been facing enquiries by the income tax department in connection to undisclosed income and properties.

Bhargava was overpowered by the security officials as soon as he hurled the shoes at the BJP leader. The incident took place on the day of voting for phase 2 elections of the Lok Sabha polls underway.

Bhargava on Thursday hurled shoes at GVL Narsimha Rao while he was defending the candidature of Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur from Bhopal at a press conference.

Bringing its Hindutva plank to the fore, the BJP on Wednesday fielded Malegaon blast case accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur in Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal against Congress heavyweight and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh.

Moments after the announcement of her candidature, she tore into Digvijay Singh, holding him responsible for defaming “Sanatan Dharma”.

Out on bail, Thakur has been discharged by a court on charges under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the 2008 case, but is still facing trial under other criminal provisions including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
