Telangana Assembly Elections 2018 election results that witnessed heavy campaigning will be declared today. The counting of votes has begun at 8 am. The Legislative Assembly of Telangana that consists of 119 seats including Sirpur, Chennur, Bellampalli, Mancherial, Asifabad and Khanapur constituencies went to polls on December 7.

The main contest in Telangana is between the prominent Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and its primary opposition party Indian National Congress (INC).  The Congress, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Communist Party of India (CPI) and M Kodandaram's newly formed Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) have formed Maha Kootami (a grand alliance) for the assembly elections. Telangana Assembly Elections 2018 Results Live News Updates.

Sirpur: In 2014, (Bahujan Samaj Party) BSP Koneru Konappa had defeated TRS' Kaveti Sammaiah by a margin of 8,800 votes. He had won from the same constituency in 2004 elections in then undivided Andhra Pradesh. This year Konappa is in the fray against Congress candidate Dr Palvai Harish Babu. Chennur: TRS' Nallala Odelu is pitted against BSP's Thungapindi Ramesh in this constituency. In 2009 and 2010, Odelu won the seat with a majority. Check Chennur live updates here.

Bellampalli: TRS's Durgam Chinnaiah has been pitted against BJP's Koyyala Emaji in Bellampalli. While TRS won the seat in 2014, CPI bagged it in 2009. Check Bellampalli live updates here.

Khanapur: Rekha Naik won the Khanapur seat in 2014 against Congress' Rathod Ritesh with a large majority. Both have been given tickets by their respective parties for 2018 assembly election too. Check Khanapur live updates here.

In 2014 assembly elections, other than Sirpur where BSP won, in Chennur, Bellampalli, Mancherial, Asifabad and Khanapur, TRS has witnessed a clear majority. In the 2014 elections, TRS emerged victorious with 63 Assembly seats and 11 out of 17 Lok Sabha seats.

The K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Assembly was dissolved prematurely in September on the recommendation of the ruling TRS government, more than eight months ahead of the expiry of its term, leading to snap elections in the state.
