Jalandhar, May 24: The results for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were announced on Thursday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recorded a thumping victory in the general elections with 303 seats. After the result was declared on Thursday, an Independent candidate from Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency started crying as he received only five votes. While giving an interview to a media house, Neetu Shutteranwala started crying after receiving only five seats from a particular polling booth even though his nine family members voted in the elections. He also alleged that there was be an EVM tempering. The video is doing rounds on social media. Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the last phase of parliamentary polls on May 19. Congress candidate Santokh Singh Chaudhary defeated Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Charanjit Singh Atwal. In spite of BJP’s landslide victory, the saffron party managed to win only two seats in Punjab, while its alliance partner SAD bagged two seats. The Congress won eight seats. The Aam Aadmi Party's Bhagwant Mann was victorious from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency.
