Veteran playback singer Kumar Sanu has filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court against his former wife Rita Bhattacharya, seeking INR 30 lakh in damages. According to Sanu’s legal counsel, Rita allegedly made several serious claims against him during interviews with entertainment platforms, which he says have damaged his reputation. The interviews reportedly include allegations that Sanu mistreated her during pregnancy, denied her food, milk and medical care and even locked her in the kitchen. She also accused the singer of having multiple affairs and neglecting his family during their marriage.
