Humans of New York's Brandon Stanton Tweets Against Humans of Bombay After Delhi High Court Issues Summons to People of India in Copyright Infringement Suit by HOB
Delhi High Court has recently issued a summon to a social media page - People of India - based on a copyright infringement suit filed by Humans of Bombay.
Humans Of New York photographer Brandon Stanton spoke out against Humans of Bombay for their recent copyright infringement case. The reputed photographer, who has shared thousands of impactful stories on his social media page - Humans of New York (acronym HONY) took to X and spoke about Humans of Bombay's recent court case against People of India. On September 20, the Delhi High Court issued a summon to a social media page - People of India - based on a copyright infringement suit filed by Humans of Bombay. However, the Humans of Bombay page, which was founded by Karishma Mehta, is inspired in its concept and theme by Brandon's brainchild - HONY.
"I've stayed quiet on the appropriation of my work because I think @HumansOfBombay shares important stories, even if they've monetized far past anything I'd feel comfortable doing on HONY. But you can't be suing people for what I've forgiven you for.", Brandon wrote on X. He went on to highlight that another HONY-inspired page - Humans of Amsterdam has always received his love, since the founder of that page - Debra Barraud “has stayed so true to the art, and has never viewed the stories that she shares as the “front end” of a business”.
