A new scam, rapidly gaining notoriety, has emerged in Hyderabad. Many young men in the city have reported falling prey to the dating scam, where they end up paying huge bills. The victims are allegedly lured through dating apps, namely, Bumble and Tinder and are invited to a place decided by the match. The amounts reported by the victims are Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000. The modus operandi is meticulously planned, with the perpetrators exploiting the victims' naivety and desire to impress. A post shared on X, where men have recalled similar incidents, has now gone viral.
