Nepal were denied a win by Heinrich Klaasen who showed his presence of mind and pulled off a direct hit at the non-striker's end, catching Gulshan Jha short of his crease. Nepal were ahead of South Africa for a good part of the game before losing out by just one run.
Heinrich Klaasen kept his nerves calm as he pulled off a run out off the last ball to help South Africa beat a spirited Nepal side in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by just one run on Saturday, June 15. With two runs needed to win from one ball, Ottneil Baartman bowled a bouncer and Jha, on strike, attempted to guide it past the wicketkeeper. Instead, he missed the ball which then was collected by Quinton de Kock. Both Jha and Sompal Kami ran hard to complete the run but the ball hit the former's back and went towards cover when Klaasen grabbed it and flicked it towards the stumps at the non-striker's end. Jha was a bit late in reaching his crease and fell short by the barest of margins as Nepal lost by just one run.
