Lockie Ferguson clinched a hat-trick as he dismissed Kusal Perera, Kamindu Mendis and Charith Asalanka off consecutive deliveries during the SL vs NZ 2nd T20I 2024 in Dambulla on Sunday, November 10. The right-arm pacer dismissed Kusal Perera with the last ball off the sixth over when he had the southpaw caught behind. He then returned in the eighth over of the run chase, dismissing Kamindu Mendis lbw and Charith Asalanka caught behind to complete his hat-trick. With this, he also became the fifth New Zealand bowler to take a hat-trick in T20Is with the others being Jacob Oram (2009), Tim Southee (2010, 2022) Michael Bracewell (2022) and Matt Henry (2023).
