Deepika Kumar earlier had outclassed Germany's Michelle Kroppen in the quarterfinals. The veteran archer had been eliminated in the quarterfinal stage at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. This defeat also spells the end of India's campaign in archery at Paris Olympics 2024.
Deepika Kumari failed to make it to the semifinals of the Women's Individual archery event at the Paris Olympics 2024 after she lost to South Korea's Nam Suhyeon on Saturday, August 3. The match swung like a pendulum with both Deepika Kumari and Nam Suhyeon giving their absolute best. Deepika Kumari had a great start to the contest, winning the first set 28-26 to attain a 2-0 lead over the 19-year-old. The South Korean youngster fought back well in the second set, clinching it 25-28. Deepika regained control once again as she fended off her opponent by winning the third set 29-28. But the young South Korean took the fourth set after Deepika Kumari shot a seven after two 10s. Deepika Kumari eventually lost the final set, 27-29, to lose the quarterfinal match 4-6.
