Meta announced its three groundbreaking advancements in robotics and touch perception at Meta FAIR. The Mark Zuckerberg-run company showcased Meta Sparsh, Meta Digit 360 and Meta Digit Plexus. The company said, "Meta Sparsh is the first general-purpose encoder for vision-based tactile sensing". The project, designed to explore physical intelligence, was trained on 4,60,000 tactile sensors and using self-supervised learning. The Meta Digit 360 featured an artificial fingertip with human-level tactile sensing through 18+ sensing features, delivering detailed touch data with human-level precision and capabilities of touch-sensing. The third advancement was Meta Digit Plexus, a standardized platform for "robotic sensor connections and interactions. It provided hardware-software solutions helping to integrate tactile sensors on a single robot hand. It would facilitate seamless data collection, control and analysis on a single cable. Meta said such components could help drive advancements across fields like medical research, supply chain management, and manufacturing. Android 16 Release Timeline: Google to Launch Two OS Updates Next Year, Major Update in Q2 2025, Minor in Q4 2025; Check Details.
