A Frontier Airlines flight from Denver International Airport to Los Angeles was forced to make an emergency return on May 9, 2026 after a pedestrian walked onto an active runway and was sucked into one of the aircraft’s engines during takeoff. The incident involving Frontier Flight 4345 triggered a brief engine fire, which airport firefighters quickly extinguished. All 231 passengers evacuated safely, with 12 people reporting minor injuries and five transported to local hospitals. The pedestrian was killed instantly. Officials confirmed the individual jumped the perimeter fence and reached the runway within minutes. The person was not an airport employee and has not yet been identified.
