Minna, January 4: At least 30 people were killed and several others abducted after gunmen raided a village in northern Nigeria’s Niger state on Saturday evening, police confirmed Sunday. The attackers stormed Kasuwan-Daji village in the Borgu local government area, opening fire on residents and setting fire to a local market and numerous homes. Niger state police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun stated that the gunmen arrived from the National Park Forest. While police officials confirmed 30 deaths, local residents reported at least 37 fatalities, warning the toll could rise as many villagers remain missing. The raid follows a pattern of "bandit" violence in the region, occurring near the site where over 300 schoolchildren were kidnapped in November. Security forces say they have deployed officers to track the abductors. Pakistan: 5 Policemen Killed After Gunmen Target Police Mobile in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Watch Video).
