West Indies hitter Chris Gayle retired from List A cricket for Jamaica in a remarkable fashion. The Universe Boss hit a century in his last match against Barbados in a Regional Super 50 Clash. The hitter went on to thank his teammates for electing him as the captain for the last match. Gayle also spoke about his life after cricket and said there is a lot more to do beyond the game. He intends to spend time with his family and wishes to watch his kids grow up. The cricketer was also given a guard of honour by his teammates.

While speaking to one of the cricketing website Gayle said that he will cherish getting a century in a 50- over game for Jamaica. “To lead the team to a win makes it more special. It's been a pleasure representing my country, more so captaining them. While speaking about his post-retirement plans he said that there is a lot in the tank but now wishes to enjoy his life. “Playing cricket for over 25 years has been a great achievement from a personal point of view, but I have a family now. I have to gel with them as much as possible and watch your kid grow,” he explained.

Gayle has played 356 List-A matches and has scored 12436 runs with an average of 38.14. Having scored 40 international centuries, Gayle is the first cricketer to get a hundred in all the three formats of the game – Test, ODI and T20. He also plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and represented Kings XI Punjab.
