Match Abandoned | India vs England Highlights, 1st T20I 2026: No-Result As Rain Forces Officials To Call-Off Encounter

Match has been called-off due to rain as match officials and captains shake-hands after inception. India played all of their 20-over under the drizzle, but it significantly picked up in the break, and ensured that conditions in the middle were deemed unfit for resumption. The second T20I will be played on Saturday at Manchester. 

The rain has reduced but it needs to complete stop for groundsmen to start removing the covers, and start work for play to resume. We have started to lose overs. 

The cut-off time for a five-over game is 1:25 AM in India, and as soon the clock his 12:23 AM, we will start losing overs. For a five-over match, England's target will be 64 as per DLS.

Ever since the fall of Abhishek Sharma's wicket, India's scoring rate has fallen considerably. Tilak Varma has failed to continue the momentum, that sees Iyer also slow down, with the duo adding 23 off 22. England have deployed their spinners, who are using the dimensions to their advantage.

50! Abhishek Sharma reaches his 11th T20I half-century, which has taken just 20 balls. Despite wickets failing at other end, Sharma has ensured India get out of a ditch here, with a 50, which includes six fours and three sixes. 

Abhishek Sharma has finally announced himself in the middle, smacking 17 runs off Saqib Mahmood's second over, which overall went for 21 runs, which eased a lot of pressure from the Indian team.

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson will look to improve from their performance from Ireland series. Samson especially will need to come to the party, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi raring to-go. England, will look to take full advantage of overcast conditions, with their opening bowlers. Luke Wood with his left-arm pace would be eager to trouble the top-order much like Jai Moonda.

India have included as many as three spinners, which include the returning Varun Chakaravarthy, who missed the Ireland T20Is. Ravi Bishnoi gets his first game on the UK tour.
