Like his Mumbai Indians compatriot, Suryakumar Yadav dazzled in his maiden T20I innings for India and scored a fine half-century. Yadav smashed 57 from 31 deliveries to give India a perfect start after Rohit Sharma's early dismissal. But Suryakumar was dismissed right after he completed his fifty. Former India cricketers, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman and Wasim Jaffer lashed out at the third umpire for the decision while Aakash Chopra called the 'soft signal' call 'farcical'. "How can this be out. When you are not sure whether the ball was taken cleanly after watching so many replays using top class technology and still go by the soft signal given by the on-field umpire," Laxman tweeted.

Fans were also disappointed with the call of the third umpire. Many pointed out that replays clearly showed the ball was touching the ground when Malan was attempting to take the catch. Kumar's innings was studded with six boundaries and three maximums. His knock helped India post a big total on the scoreboard.
