Canada vs Ireland Highlights And Cricket Score 25th Match - T20 Commentary

End of Over : 20.0 CAN: 156/5

Whoever will win this game, will go on top, but if Ireland win this and later on, Jersey beat Hong Kong, Jersey can top the table with a superior net run rate! So how many Irish fans are out there?

Mark Adair was brilliant early on, with 4-0-21-0 but the rest were inconsistent. Strangely, Dockrell bowled only 2 overs. The track looks dry and there will be spin on offer. So far, Ireland have all been Stirling in this tournament. If Canada manage to get rid of him early, we could be in for a cliffhanger. Stay tuned!

It did look like 180 could be on the cards and perhaps even 200, when Mark Adair put Dhaliwal down on 68. But he was out immediately and then, Ireland got their chance through the half-open door. Just 32 runs came in the last 5 overs, which is a testimony to their comeback.

157 then, is the target for Ireland. They have done reasonably well to pull things back, but 156 is not a bad score from Canada. The Canadians started poorly but then the Nelson-run stand between Dhaliwal and Nitish Kumar kept the Irish at bay.

Full delivery on the leg stump line, Nitish makes room towards the leg side and flicks it uppishly. But the ball goes straight into the hands of Tector at deep mid-wicket. So the century stand is broken first and then both set batsmen depart in the span of 8 balls. Ireland are making a strong comeback here.

Welcome to our coverage of the 25th match of the ICC World T20 Qualifiers between Ireland and Canada. The Irish are coming off a big win against Oman in their previous game. Gareth Delaney is in good form with both bat and ball. Ireland would hope for a performance which would take them closer to the top of group B. Canada, on the other hand, are roaring with two back-to-back wins. Nitish Kumar has been the star for them with twin fifties. The Canadians would want to regain the top spot with a match-winning performance against the strong Irish team. Toss and team updates in a while.

End of Over : 20.0 IRE: 146/7

That's it from this game! Canada have gone to the top of the table with this win and Ireland have to work really hard to make a comeback into this tournament. The ICC World T20 Qualifiers are not done yet and we have another game coming up, Hong Kong versus Jersey. Do join us for that at 1930 Local (1530 GMT).

Navneet Dhaliwal, the Canadian skipper, says that they have done well but they would need to do better in the Powerplay. Further says that they could have scored some more runs in their innings. On the surface, Dhaliwal says that the surface is very slow but they adapted well to it. On his knock and captaincy, Navneet states that it feels good to play such a knock and he was a bit unlucky getting out earlier in the previous games.

Gary Wilson, the Irish skipper, says that the Canadians got a bit more than they would have liked but the boys brought it back really well. Says that they were backing themselves to chase this down but they did not expect to lose wickets so quickly and then it was difficult for them to recover from that. Adds that they would look to do better in their upcoming games.

Nitish Kumar is the Player of the match, on being asked about the win, he says that it was a good win. The bowlers bowled really well here. On his partnership with Navneet Dhaliwal, he says that when he came, the team wanted a good partnership and luckily they got one today in the middle. On advice from the coach, he adds that he was just asked to express himself and play his natural game.

The Irish were poor with the ball at the start giving away easy runs but came back strongly in the end to give away just 32 runs in the last five overs of the Canadians innings. Coming to their batting, there's nothing to talk about that, they lost wickets in a heap and it was difficult for them to make a comeback from thereon. Stuart Thompson, Gary Wilson and Mark Adair looked to resurrect things but it was too late. They remain in fourth position on the points table and would hope for a better performance in their next encounter. Presentation in a while.

CANADA! CANADA! BRILLIANT! They have beaten a side which is above them in the T20Is rankings and with this win they have gone to the top of the table. Canada started off well with the bat and due to an excellent stand between Nitish Kumar and Navneet Dhaliwal, they reached a respectable score on this wicket. They lost a few wickets in the end and could not finish with a bang. Then, their bowlers did a wonderful job to strangle the Irish batsmen. The team would be a happy bunch going into their next match. The only concern was their fielding as they made plenty of errors in their ground fielding.
