Delhi Daredevils vs Kings XI Punjab Highlights And Cricket Score 22th Match - T20 Commentary

End of Over : 20.0 KXIP: 143/8

The away side on the other hand, never got going. They had a few batsmen who got starts but no one converted it. Nair was their top scorer. Miller after being dropped twice, did look like he would make them pay but he too fell prey to a Delhi pacer. The target is not a big one but the wicket is a tad difficult. Delhi though will back themselves to chase this down but Punjab do have a bowling line-up which can make it hard. What is in store for the second half? Let us wait to find out...

So a brilliant bowling performance by Delhi means they will head into the break as the happier side. Everything went right for them. They won the toss, elected to field and got an early wicket through Avesh Khan. Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Agarwal did try and counter-attack but fell pray to the new lad Plunkett who was the star of the show tonight. He finished with figures of 4-0-17-3. He was well supported by all the pacers as they bagged wickets at regular intervals which choked the Punjab batting.

19.6 W

Trent Boult to Andrew Tye. OUT! DRAGGED ON! So a wicket from the last ball. Just 4 from the last over and a wicket. This is full and outside off. Tye tries to clear the leg side boundary but gets an inside edge onto his stumps to give Boult his second. PUNJAB FINISH ON 143/8!

So to Gambhir's relief, Miller has not made a lot of the reprieves. This one is a slower one on off, Miller slaps it over covers. He has hit it really well but Delhi have a man there in the deep. 16.1 W

Liam Plunkett to Karun Nair. OUT! Plunkett is on fire this evening. Bags his third of the evening. Absolutely wonderful bowling effort. Had to cover a lot of ground, but did well in the end to take it. Punjab fall deeper.

Liam Plunkett returns to the bowling attack.

Strategic break signaled! So 4 overs to go and only 116 on the board. Miller and Nair are the two men out there. The former has already been dropped twice. Will he make Delhi pay or will the hosts strike back as they have been doing in this game?

He fires a throw at the non-striker's end but misses. To add salt to the wound, the batsmen run an overthrow as the fielder backing up fails to collect it. A big let off there for Miller. Everybody knows how dangerous he can be and Delhi would hope this does not cost them a lot.

We are all set for the action to begin. The players and the umpires make their way out to the middle. They are followed by the two openers of Punjab, Aaron Finch and Lokesh Rahul. They will look to make maximum use of the Powerplay. Trent Boult has the new ball in hand. He will be bowling to Rahul. Here we go...

Delhi have a total of five changes and not only two which were mentioned. Prithvi Shaw, Amit Mishra and Avesh Khan coming in are the other three changes. They replace Shahbaz Nadeem, Harshal Patel and Vijay Shankar.

Ravichandran Ashwin says he was not sure on what to do as it is the first time they are playing here. Informs there is one change Chris Gayle sits out and David Miller comes in. Adds further Aaron Finch will open the batting.

Gautam Gambhir says it looks a good wicket and he reckons it wont change a lot. Mentions they haven't got a lot of time to practice here and hence they too are unsure about the wicket. Informs they have made two changes, Chris Morris and Jason Roy are out and Liam Plunkett and Daniel Christian come in.

TOSS - Delhi win the toss and they will bowl first.

The visitors on the other hand, are cruising in the tournament so far. They have got their combinations right and they look a formidable side. A win here for them will take them to the top of the table and Ashwin will be eager to get two points from this game. They head into this one as favourites but one would not rule out the hosts. Stay tuned for further updates.

Hello and welcome to the Northern Derby, game 22nd of this year's Indian T20 League. It is a clash between Delhi and Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. The home side has had a poor time in the tournament so far. They are down at the bottom of the table and have only won one game so far. Gautam Gambhir will hope for their fortunes to turn around and there is no better place to do so. It is their first game at home. They will have the crowd behind them and the home side will be all pumped up for this match.

End of Over : 20.0 DD: 139/8

That concluded the formalities from this game. Punjab have another win and with this, they move to the top of the table. Delhi suffer yet another loss and are really staring down the barrel. They need a string under their belts and they need it fast. Done with this, we move on to the next. Tomorrow, Mumbai play Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium, at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Join in for that. Cheers, people!

Ankit Rajpoot receives the Man of the Match Award. His outstanding spell at the start of the innings was vital in Punjab stifling Delhi in the run chase, thereby gaining the upper hand in their subsequent victory.

Shreyas Iyer was the only one who kept the fight going and is the sole reason for taking the game to the last ball. Delhi lost 3 wickets in the Powerplay and the pressure mounted right from there. Except for the Iyer-Tewatia partnership consisting of 47, none of the others were of note. If even one other batsman had dug in and stayed with Iyer, things might have turned out differently. The host suffer another loss, this time in their own den.

The Ravichandran Ashwin-led side has another win under its belt. Defended yet another total, one which wasn't too big, with class. The batting had been winning them games till now. It was underwhelming tonight, but the bowling department came to the rescue. With just 143 on the board, the visitors needed a big performance with the ball and the entire unit stood up. Barring the skipper, who was economical himself, everyone chipped in with the wickets and kept it relatively tight as well.

19.6 W

Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Shreyas Iyer. OUT! Iyer departs! Heartbreak for the young man. He tries to clear long off after going deep in his crease. Slaps it over extra cover and Finch out in the deep moves to his left and takes it comfortably. PUNJAB WIN BY 4 RUNS!
