Virat Kohli once again showed his class with the bat as he went past 2000 runs in a calendar year during the first One-Day International (ODI) between India and Windies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Kohli at the start of the match needed 42 runs to complete 2000 runs in ODIs this year. With it, the Indian captain became the leading run-scorer for his team this year in ODIs, followed by Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni.  IND vs WI 1st ODI Live Score Updates

This was for the third consecutive time that Kohli scored 2000 or more runs in a calendar year. Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Mathew Hayden, and Joe Root are the other players to have achieved the feat. This was also the second time Kohli scored 2000 runs in a calendar year in ODIs as a captain.

Meanwhile, India were going strong with Kohli and Rohit Sharma hammering the Windies bowling. The duo, at the time of writing this report, had shared over 100 runs stand for the second wicket.
