Tiger Woods Released on Bail: Official Mugshot of Gold Legend Surfaces After DUI Arrest and Rollover Crash in Florida (See Pic)
Tiger Woods was released from a Florida jail late Friday after a DUI arrest following a rollover crash. A mugshot of Woods has also surfaced online. Though uninjured, he showed signs of impairment and refused a urine test, though a breathalyzer showed no alcohol. He faces misdemeanor charges for DUI and property damage. This marks his second DUI-related arrest involving medication.
Mumbai, March 28: Professional golfer Tiger Woods was released from the Martin County Jail late Friday night, March 28, after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a two-vehicle rollover crash. The 50-year-old was taken into custody Friday afternoon after his Land Rover clipped a pickup truck's trailer and overturned on a residential road near his home. Authorities confirmed that while both vehicles sustained damage, neither Woods nor the driver of the other vehicle reported any injuries.
Amid this, the mugshot of Tiger Woods was released by officials, and the same is going viral on social media. According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, the crash occurred shortly before 2:00 PM ET on South Beach Road in Jupiter Island. Woods was travelling at a "high rate of speed" in a 30 mph zone when he attempted to overtake a pickup truck pulling a pressure-cleaning trailer. During the manoeuvre, Woods' SUV swerved and clipped the rear of the trailer, causing the Land Rover to roll onto its driver's side and slide for some distance. Woods was able to crawl out of the vehicle through the passenger-side door before deputies arrived at the scene.
Evidence of Impairment Against Tiger Woods
Investigating officers reported that Woods appeared "lethargic" and showed visible signs of impairment during roadside sobriety tests. While a breathalyser test administered at the jail returned a "triple zero" result - indicating no alcohol was in his system - investigators believe the impairment was related to medication or other substances.
Woods was officially charged with:
- Driving Under the Influence (DUI) with Property Damage
- Refusal to Submit to a Lawful Test (specifically a urinalysis)
"He was cooperative, but he was not trying to incriminate himself," Sheriff Budensiek told reporters, noting that because Woods refused the urine test, authorities may never obtain a definitive toxicology report. This marks the second time the 15-time major champion has been arrested for a DUI not involving alcohol. In 2017, Woods was found asleep behind the wheel of a parked car and later attributed the incident to an adverse reaction to prescription painkillers. He also survived a high-speed rollover crash in Los Angeles in 2021 that nearly resulted in the amputation of his right leg.
The arrest comes at a critical juncture in Woods' career. He has been recovering from a seventh back surgery performed last September and a ruptured Achilles tendon sustained in March 2025. Just days ago, he competed in a TGL indoor golf league match and was reportedly nearing a decision on whether to participate in the upcoming Masters Tournament in April. Next Steps in the Tiger Woods Car Crash Case
Following Florida state law, Woods was required to be incarcerated for at least eight hours before posting bond. He was held in a separate area of the jail for his safety and was released at approximately 11:00 PM on Friday. His manager at Excel Sports has not yet issued a formal comment. A court date for the misdemeanour charges is expected to be scheduled in the coming weeks.
