AI Concerning: Over 50% of Adults Feel More Worried About Artificial Intelligence Than Excited, Says Survey
A widening gap has emerged between how technology firms promote artificial intelligence and how the public reacts to its rapid integration into daily life. Recent data reveals that optimism regarding artificial intelligence is declining notably among young adults, driven by growing anxieties surrounding future employment opportunities.
Public Sentiment and Rising AI Concerns
A recent survey conducted in the United States shows that 55 per cent of adults under 30 feel more concerned than excited about artificial intelligence, marking a notable increase from previous years. Across all demographics, 52 per cent of respondents expressed greater concern than excitement. As per a report by The Indian Express, this shift highlights deepening public skepticism despite aggressive corporate deployment and marketing.
Job Displacement Anxieties and Industry Spending
Concerns regarding long-term job security have intensified significantly, with 71 per cent of survey participants believing that artificial intelligence will reduce overall job opportunities over the next two decades. Among adults under 30, that figure rose to 73 per cent. Meanwhile, major technology conglomerates continue pouring trillions of dollars into infrastructure, though questions persist regarding sustainable financing models and mounting pressure from shareholders to deliver immediate financial returns.
