Trump Explains Decision in Truth Social Post
“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” Trump wrote. “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!” The post was shared with Trump’s nearly 13 million followers on Truth Social.
Wedding Expected in Bahamas
Donald Trump Jr. is expected to marry Bettina Anderson at a private ceremony on a private island in the Bahamas on Saturday. According to reports by Page Six, the couple has been “in a hurry to get hitched.” Trump had earlier indicated uncertainty about attending the wedding, previously saying the timing was “not good timing for me.” Donald Trump Says US ‘May Have to Hit Iran Again’ if Diplomacy Fails After Pausing Planned Military Strike (Watch Video).
Trump’s remarks came even as his publicly released schedule showed he was expected to be at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey on Saturday morning and again later that afternoon. The golf club is located more than 170 miles away from the White House.
However, following Trump’s social media statement, his public schedule was later updated to show that he would remain at the White House on Saturday morning before traveling to New Jersey later in the day.
The decision highlights the balancing act often faced by sitting US presidents between personal family events and official responsibilities. Trump has frequently emphasised his commitment to remaining actively engaged in White House affairs during periods of domestic and international developments. Neither Donald Trump Jr. nor Bettina Anderson has publicly commented on the president’s absence from the ceremony.
