An Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-trained operative has been arrested and charged after allegedly targeting former First Daughter Ivanka Trump in a sophisticated assassination plot. The scheme was reportedly designed as a direct retaliation for the 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed top Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani.
According to a report by the New York Post, federal investigators recently captured 32-year-old Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi. The Iraqi national had allegedly made a formal "pledge" to assassinate Ivanka Trump and was discovered in possession of blueprints detailing her high-security Florida residence. The Vow of Revenge for Qasem Soleimani
The plot traces back to Donald Trump’s first presidency, during which a U.S. drone strike in Baghdad eliminated Soleimani, the powerful leader of Iran's elite Quds Force. Al-Saadi allegedly used the killing as a catalyst to orchestrate a personal vendetta against the Trump family.
"After Qasem was killed, he [Al-Saadi] went around telling people ‘we need to kill Ivanka to burn down the house of Trump the way he burned down our house,’" Entifadh Qanbar, a former deputy military attaché in the Iraqi embassy in Washington, told the New York Post.
Digital Surveillance and Chilling Warnings
U.S. authorities revealed that Al-Saadi extensively monitored Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner. He utilized social media platforms to telegraph his intentions, which included publishing a map image on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting the area surrounding the couple's USD 24 million Florida estate. Iranian Family Demands Release from Immigration Detention.
The digital map was accompanied by an explicit, translated warning directed toward American security forces:
"I say to the Americans look at this picture and know that neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you. We are currently in the stage of surveillance and analysis. I told you, our revenge is a matter of time," the message read.
A Global Trail of Terror and International Arrest
Al-Saadi's operations extended far beyond the plot against Ivanka Trump. He was arrested in Turkey on May 15 and subsequently extradited to the United States, where the Department of Justice hit him with charges connected to 18 attacks and attempted attacks spanning Europe and North America.
Federal prosecutors allege that Al-Saadi coordinated several high-profile assaults targeting American and Jewish institutions across multiple countries. His alleged operational footprint includes the firebombing of the Bank of New York Mellon building in Amsterdam, the stabbing of two Jewish victims in London, and a shooting incident near the U.S. consulate building in Toronto. Investigators also tied him to a planned synagogue bombing in Liège, Belgium, as well as an arson attack on a temple in Rotterdam.

Deep Ties to Iran's Elite Military Networks
Intelligence experts note that Al-Saadi is deeply embedded within state-sponsored proxy networks, maintaining active connections to both Kata’ib Hezbollah and Iran's IRGC. Raised in Baghdad by his Iraqi mother, he was later sent to Tehran specifically to receive specialized training from the IRGC.
Elizabeth Tsurkov, a senior fellow at the Washington DC-based New Lines Institute who was previously kidnapped in Baghdad in 2023 and later released, told the New York Post that Al-Saadi’s ties to Iranian military networks run incredibly deep.
Court documents further substantiate these connections, featuring active social media photos of Al-Saadi alongside Soleimani at military facilities, reviewing maps, and examining operational equipment. In a post published months after Soleimani’s death, Al-Saadi foreshadowed his transition into underground operations:
"I will leave social media and turn off all my phones until the American enemy is defeated … victory or martyrdom."
Ivanka Trump, who converted to Orthodox Judaism in 2009 prior to marrying Kushner, appears to have been targeted due to both her family ties and religious affiliation. Following his extradition, Al-Saadi is currently being held under maximum security in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as federal prosecution moves forward.
