A 25-year-old woman has spoken out after allegedly being trapped next to a male passenger who began pleasuring himself aboard an early morning United Airlines flight, with the man reportedly exiting the aircraft without facing immediate detention. The passenger recounted to NBC News that the incident took place during a flight from Rochester, New York, to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on September 3, leaving her stranded in the aisle to avoid the seated traveller.
The woman described the individual as an "unassuming" and "pretty normal looking" man aged between 35 and 40 who began masturbating in plain view while maintaining direct eye contact with her. "I just got the sense [he] had done it before ... People don't just do those things at 6 AM," she told NBC News, highlighting the distress caused by the confrontation in the confined aircraft cabin. According to the passenger, cabin crew members assured her that she would only need to return to her assigned seat beside the man for approximately five minutes during the final descent and landing sequence. Following touchdown at Newark Liberty International Airport, the situation deteriorated further when the man deplaned alongside other passengers and departed the terminal without being intercepted or questioned by airport police or federal aviation security personnel.
The passenger also expressed dissatisfaction with the carrier's customer service response, noting that United Airlines offered her a $100 travel voucher despite the entire booking costing approximately $400.
Addressing the matter, a representative for United Airlines told TMZ that the carrier is actively "looking into this report." The airline declined to confirm whether the cabin crew or ground operations formally notified federal or local law enforcement authorities prior to or upon arrival.
