Allahabad High Court: Adults Have Right To Choose Matrimonial Partner Irrespective Of Religion

On September 16, the Allahabad High Court said that two adults have the right to choose their matrimonial partner irrespective of the religion followed by them. The court passed the order while granting protection to an interfaith couple. The bench comprising of Justice Deepak Verma and Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, was hearing a petition filed by a Muslim woman, and her Hindu partner. They had approached the court claiming a threat to their lives.  Allahabad High Court  granted protection to the couple. The court said that even their parents cannot object to their relationship.
