On October 13, a Congress delegation led by Rahul Gandhi met President Ram Nath Kovind and urged him that Union Minister of State For Home, Ajay Mishra should be dismissed from his post. Ajay Mishra’s son, Ashish Mishra is accused of mowing down protesting farmers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri. The senior congress leader demanded that two sitting Supreme Court judges should probe the matter. Reportedly, President Ram Nath Kovind said he will speak to the government over the issue. Ashish Mishra was arrested over the weekend. Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the incident that took place on October 3 at Lakhimpur Kheri.
