Every second person in Delhi has been exposed to COVID-19 & developed antibodies, the Delhi government announced on February 2. They made the announcement while unveiling the results of the latest round of sero survey. The survey has revealed that 56.1% people in Delhi have antibodies, which means more than half of the capital’s population was infected with the coronavirus & has recovered. Delhi’s health minister Satyendar Jain said the data released showed that except for the north district, the other 10 districts had a seroprevalence of more than 50%. He said it was up to experts to say whether the city had developed herd immunity but it was surely getting there. He urged people to keep following COVID-19 appropriate behaviour & not let their guard down. Meanwhile, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has become the first state or Union territory in India to be officially rid of the COVID-19 infection, at least for now, with active cases falling to zero in the islands. Health ministry’s website reported on February 2 that the last four infected persons in Andaman and Nicobar Islands had been declared cured. The UT had reported a total of 4,932 cases and 62 deaths from the virus. With 8,635 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, India recorded the lowest single-day rise in its tally in nearly eight months, the government data showed.
