On May 17, the Supreme Court of India asked the Varanasi administration where exactly the 'Shivling' was found inside Gyanvapi mosque, reported NDTV. Shivling is a symbol of Lord Shiva. Gyanvapi mosque is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. As reported by NDTV, the apex court asked the question to the administration during the hearing of a petition by the mosque committee. The mosque committee sought a direction to the authorities to stop the filming of the mosque area, reported NDTV. The top court told the Varanasi District Magistrate to ensure that if the 'Shivling' was found, the area should be protected, but without stopping Muslims from offering namaz, reported NDTV.
