Janmashtami 2020: No Celebrations In Mathura, Mumbai Temples To Live Stream Puja Amid COVID-19 Scare

Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Janamashtami is celebrated every year on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada. This year, according to the Gregorian calendar, the festival will be celebrated on 11-12 August i.e. for two days .As per astrologers, Janmashtami Shubh Muhurat will be on August 12. On August 12, the auspicious time of worship will start from 12: 5 minutes to 12: 47 minutes. The duration of the puja will last for 43 minutes. As the number of coronavirus cases in India continues to rise exponentially, the birthplace of Lord Krishan will see almost zero participation of the public. The Mathura administration has ordered that no public events will be held in the district. Krishna Janmabhoomi temple will remain closed for devotees from August 10 to August 13. ISKCON order worldwide will celebrate the birth at midnight on August 12. Devotees will be able to view e-puja and abhishek online. The popular dahi-handi festivities coinciding with Krishna Janmashtami have been put off in Mumbai and its suburbs in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Goa Disaster Management Authority (GDMA) has issued guidelines to be followed during Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in view of coronavirus outbreak. The guidelines for celebrations of Janmashtami states that there shall be no 'Dahi Handi' celebration throughout the district.
