Jivitputrika Vrat or Jitya Vrat is an important fasting day observed on Krishna Paksha Ashtami in the month of Ashwin, according to the Hindu calendar. Jitya Vrat 2022 will be observed on September 18, Sunday. On this day, mothers observe a Nirjala (without water) fast throughout the day and night to pray for the well-being of their children. It is observed mostly in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh and is also quite popular in Nepal.
