MNS Workers Clash With Bank Managers in Thane & Pune for Not Speaking in Marathi With Customers

INDIA Team Latestly|

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has again created controversy by forcefully imposing Marathi language use in Maharashtra's banks. On April 2, MNS activists stormed a nationalised bank in Ambernath, Thane, and confronted the manager for not communicating in Marathi and smashed a computer. They threatened the manager with severe action if he did not use Marathi in the future. A similar incident occurred in Pune’s Lonavala, where MNS activists demanded that banks prioritise Marathi. A Marathi-speaking bank employee questioned whether customers were actually facing language-related problems. This led to MNS workers slapping him and asking him to leave. Additionally, in Mumbai’s Powai, a security guard was allegedly assaulted for not speaking Marathi. Videos of the incidents have gone viral, fuelling a debate about whether MNS is really encouraging Marathi or resorting to violence and intimidation
