New GST Charges: Hike On Textiles Deferred, Tax Imposed On Cabs, Food Aggregators

Goods and services┬аtax┬а(GST) rate┬аhike┬аon┬аtextiles┬аfrom five per cent to 12 per cent has been┬аdeferred.┬аThe┬аGST┬аCouncil decided in its meeting held on December 31. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the decision. This decision comes┬аamid objections from states.┬аFood┬аplatforms like Zomato and Swiggy┬аwill have to collect and deposit┬аtax┬аat 5 per cent rate starting┬аfrom January 1. Cab┬аaggregators┬аlike Ola and Uber will have to collect 5 per cent┬аGST┬аfor booking 2 and 3 wheeler vehicles effective from January 1. Watch the video to know more.
