Nirbhaya’s Killers Hanged, Victim’s Mother Dedicates Day To All Daughters Of The Country

Seven years after a young 23-year-old medical student was brutally gang-raped and tortured on a moving bus, four of her killers were hanged at 5:30 am on March 20, 2020. The execution took place less than two hours after Supreme Court dismissed the final petition of the convicts. Akshay Thakur, 31, Pawan Gupta, 25, Vinay Sharma, 26, and Mukesh Singh, 32, were executed at Delhi’s Tihar jail where they spent the last few hours in isolation and separate cells and barely ate or slept. Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother, “Today we got justice. This day is dedicated to the daughters of the country.” On December 16, 2012, Nirbhaya was brutally gang-raped and tortured on a moving bus and dumped on the road by six men.
