An engineer working for Ola's AI arm Krutrim died by suicide due to alleged work pressure and an exploitative manager. The body of Nikhil Somwanshi, who joined Krutrim in August 2024 as a machine learning engineer, was found in Bengaluru's Agara Lake on May 08. A Reddit user, who claimed to be a co-worker of Somwanshi, blamed the "extreme work pressure" and their US-based manager Rajkiran Panuganti for the techie's suicide. However, Krutrim on May 18 issued a statement, saying they are extending full support to Somwanshi's family. The company also said that Somwanshi was "on personal leave at the time of the incident".
