Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was detained on October 4 by the Uttar Pradesh police. However, the party's youth wing national president Srinivas BV claimed that Gandhi was arrested. Gandhi was on her way to meet the families of the four farmers killed in the wake of violence during an anti-farm laws protest on October 3. An agitated Gandhi asked for a warrant as the Uttar Pradesh police surrounded her and her team members. Party member Deepender Hooda has also been detained. "You can't speak to a woman but are hitting him," said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as she stands in between Deepender Hooda and the group of policemen. Rahul Gandhi tweeted in support of sister Priyanka Gandhi. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief was also detained by the police from outside his residence in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
