Supreme Court's Observations On Lakhimpur Kheri Violence Probe By UP Police: 'Thousands of Protesters and Only 23 Witnesses?'

On October 26, the Supreme Court of India questioned the Uttar Pradesh government once again in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra allegedly mowed down four farmers. The apex court questioned the UP government of having only 23 witnesses in the case. Senior lawyer Harish Salve, representing the Uttar Pradesh government said, of 68 witnesses, statements of 30 had been recorded & 23 were eyewitnesses. “A huge rally of farmers and only 23 eyewitnesses?” NV Ramana, Chief Justice of India asked. In the earlier hearing, the UP government was told sternly by the Supreme Court to "dispel the feeling that you are dragging your feet" on the matter. Watch the video to know more.
