On July 31 night, 17 workers died when a girder launching machine crashed in Thane's Shahpur in Maharashtra. The tragedy took place when work was underway on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway (Samruddhi Mahamarg). PM Narendra Modi expressed grief and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each of the deceased and an assistance of Rs 50,000 for the injured. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he has ordered a probe into the incident. Two NDRF teams are engaged in search and rescue operations. Watch the video to know more.
