Truck drivers are protesting across the country. Truckers have been protesting in many states including Punjab, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & Himachal Pradesh. The truckers have been protesting against the high penalties for hit-and-run accidents in newly passed law - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Earlier, the cases were filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with a punishment of two years. The three-day protest has been launched by truck, bus and tanker drivers. Under the new law, hit-and-run cases can attract up to 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs 7 lakh. Watch the video to know more.
