US President Donald Trump, who has had a very eventful week thanks to the G7 summit in Canada and the historic meeting with North Korea leader Kim Jong- un in Singapore, will celebrate his 72nd birthday today. The US President was born on June 14, 1946 in New York City to businessman Fred Trump. His mother Mary Anne MacLeod had been a huge influence on him. One can say that Donald Trump has always been famous even before he came the President of the United States thanks to his business deals, his best selling book titled "The Art of the Deal" and the constant media coverage his marriage(s) received. The latest Forbes list ranks him as the 766th richest person in the world with a net worth of US$3.1 billion.

Donald Trump went to the The New York Military Academy and earned a degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania but that doesn't matter much because he himself had said in an old interview that "he didn't study but knew a lot."

Taking charge of the family business in 1971, Donald Trump renamed it The Trump Organization and entered Manhattan. What followed after that was a series of high profile purchases and the face of Donald Trump inaugurating skyscrapers, hotels and his most successful venture at that time the Casino. His moment under the sun came after Trump got the Central Park's Wollman Rink repair work completed within four months. The project had remained unfinished and had overshot it time by almost three years due to various reasons.

He also ran into controversy after the bitter fall out with his first wife Ivana Trump and his affair with Marla Maple (whom he married later) that resulted in much publicized divorce and after a few of his business ventures failed. He ventured into almost everything from TV Game Show  called "Trump Card", to buying a football team and even entering the aviation sector when he bought the Eastern Airline Shuttle and renamed it the Trump Shuttle.

He also acquired the struggling Harris property and renamed it the Trump Plaza. But by the 1990's  his trouble grew after he was reported to be in huge debt and the media reported that he won't be able to repay the loans but he managed to stay afloat. This is the moment when his father stepped in to help his son after which Trump said, "I really took my eyes off the ball and I got it back on the ball and went back doing business the way I did and really focused and it worked out."

He lost three of his important executives in a helicopter crash and by his own admission he was supposed to make that trip but for some reason he backed out of it at the last moment. Experts are of the opinion that this incident made him value life more and to take decisions quickly.

Donald Trump reinvented himself when he produced and hosted the game show The Apprentice on TV. He entered the 2016 presidential race after years of speculation as to whether he will ever take the political plunge. His campaign received wide media coverage due to his comments and positions on various issues but they were successful nonetheless. He was given very little chance and few indeed believed that he could win, but as far as Trump was concerned: He never doubted that he could win. And that is what he possesses in abundance, self-belief almost to borderline arrogance and an ability to stand his ground no matter what. He continues to chart his path and writing his destiny. Only this time, his decisions affect the whole world and history will be out to judge not just him as an individual but also as the President of the United States of America.
