Investigation and Arrest

According to reports from the Anadolu news agency, German police have provisionally arrested a 41-year-old resident of the apartment building in connection with the blaze. The victims have been identified as two women aged 25 and 27, along with a 26-year-old man, all of whom were Indian nationals. Police and prosecutors announced that an extensive investigation, which included evaluations by a fire safety expert, ruled out any technical defect as the source of the fire. This finding shifted the focus of the investigation toward the 41-year-old building resident, who has since been questioned by homicide investigators under the supervision of the Bochum prosecutor's office.

Prior Dispatches and Background

Citing Germany's public broadcaster NDR, Anadolu reported that local police had been called to the apartment building on Sunday - just a day prior to the fire - following a dispute. Authorities noted that officers had also responded to prior disturbances at the property on earlier occasions. However, police emphasised that their earlier interventions had no connection to the fatal fire. German authorities are continuing their inquiries to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
