At least 11 people were killed and three others injured after three armed men opened fire on people gathered at a house in KwaMakhutha, south of Durban, in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, police said on Wednesday. The shooting took place late Tuesday night in the Ziko area.

Police said 14 people — 13 men and a woman believed to be pregnant — were at the house when the attackers arrived and began shooting. Ten victims, including the woman, died at the scene, while another victim later succumbed to gunshot wounds after being taken to hospital. Three others were injured. The attackers fled after the shooting.
