Social media posts claim Chinese President Xi Jinping suffered a stroke and left the BRICS summit early. Community notes indicate the claims are unverified, and official schedules confirm his diplomatic engagements in India. Wanjun Xie, chairman of the China Democratic Party, claimed that Xi Jinping fainted during the BRICS summit hosted by New Delhi.
Unverified claims circulating on social media allege that Chinese President Xi Jinping suffered a medical emergency during his visit to New Delhi for the BRICS summit. MIlitary Helicopter Was Used To Transport Xi Jinping Directly to Beijing's 301 Hospital
Xie claimed that after receiving emergency treatment from his accompanying medical team, Xi ended his visit to India early and returned to China on a special plane. According to the post, upon the plane's arrival at Beijing airport, authorities did not arrange for a large group of officials to greet Xi or organise a welcome ceremony. Instead, "a military helicopter was used to transport Xi Jinping directly to Beijing's 301 Hospital for emergency treatment". Xie further claimed that an expert team at Beijing's 301 Hospital diagnosed Xi with "a severe ischemic stroke, that is, a transient cerebral infarction".
The post also claimed that Xi "feared that the Indian side might obtain information about his health" and therefore "refused emergency treatment at an Indian hospital" before returning to Beijing for care. According to Xie, "During the flight, as there were no conditions for surgery, the medical team could only administer conservative treatment to sustain Xi Jinping's life". He further claimed that Xi "missed the golden window for emergency care and surgery".
The post alleged that even if Xi undergoes surgery at Beijing's 301 Hospital, "there is a high likelihood of severe sequelae". Xie also claimed that "the Beijing authorities are still unable to confirm whether Xi Jinping can recover his health before the visit to the United States", adding that authorities were waiting to determine whether it would be necessary to cancel Xi's planned late-September trip to the US.
