Karachi [Pakistan], July 1 (ANI): Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's convoy was pelted with stones on Sunday in Karachi.

Bhutto was on his way to Karachi's Lyari town in Sindh province to kick start his election campaign.

Though Bhutto escaped unharmed in the attack, the window of his car was smashed by the miscreants.

The PPP workers hurled back stones at the protestors who were residents of Lyari's Bihar Colony, reported the Express Tribune.

Bilawal's convoy remained stuck in the area for half an hour over the failure of diffusing the situation, as per several local media reports.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Bhutto's spokesperson Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar maintained that the PPP election campaign will continue in Sindh province, the report said.

Furthermore, he requested party workers to keep the peace, saying the violence will not be responded to with violence.

Pakistan is slated to hold general elections on July 26. Bhutto is contesting from NA-246, Karachi. (ANI)
